A huge thank you to NetGalley and Disney Book Group for providing me with an ARC of this book!

Aru and Mini are back for another adventure, this time joined by their new Pandava sister, Brynne. The god of love's bow and arrow have been stolen, and Aru has been framed for the theft. Now the Otherworld is in a state of panic as the real thief is using said bow and arrow to turn people into zombies, creating a heartless army for nefarious purposes unknown. Aru has been given until the next full moon to retrieve the items, or she will have to leave the Otherworld forever.

Like the first book, this was definitely a fun ride. Many of these myths and legends were basically my bedtime stories growing up, and these reimaginings fascinate me more than I can describe. Add to that the ubiquitous pop culture references, characters that are so realistic, and a generous dose of humour - it turns into a book that's very easy to relate to. With the typical fast paced adventure that I have come to expect from a Rick Riordan Presents book, this was an enjoyable read and a wonderful portrayal of friendship - a perfect middle-grade novel. I can't wait to see what Roshani Chokshi comes up with next!

The second book was as brilliant as the first book(if I willingly ignore my some personal preferences). Mini continues to be my favourite Pandava sister because of her humor and always ready for any sit ations mindset. Although I did not like Brynn at first, her personality graduallygrew on me. As for Aidan,he was fine. The end was a little disappointing for me(spoiler: I absolutely did not see him as the recarniation of Draupadi as he had none of her quality. I rather envisioned him as Karna, thought the equation between Aru and him would be awkward then). And lastly,Aru,our main Panadava protagonist was a brilliantly written fmc. I absolutely adore her character arc. Her equation with her soul sister was amazing.

Although the book falls into Middle grade genre, the author managed to delve deep into subjects and phil sophy that goes beyond a teen mind. I guess that writing skill hooked me and kept me engaged as an adult reader. Also, the audiobook book is a chef kiss. I was often chuckling out loud because of the immaculate humor and the way the narrator presented it. Must recommend. My only request is that please have a basic level of knowledge about Hindu mythology before diving into the book otherwise you may have problem process some information dumping.

happy birthday aru shah!!!

I love the Pandava series and it's one of my favorites in Rick Riordan Presents (so far). It's adventurous and funny and the characters are so relatable.

I liked this one more than the first, and I really feel like the characters are coming into their own. There were a few moments (can't remember them all now!) where I thought, "this is feminist and I love it." The moment at the end, with the arrow? How perfect! Also: Am I the only one loving the references to Disney songs? Just a very cute series for fans of mythology and young adventurers.

The only downside of an audiobook is I can't write out any character's name because I have no idea how they are spelled. The upside, thought, is less name butchering on my part when reading/listening to it. I think a hybrid read/listen would be perfect.

This book is better than the first one.
Middle Grade/Mythology books are always fun to read, and Aru Shah remembers me a lot of Percy Jackson.
