For a man who likes to talk about cutting authors works, I definitely felt like there were some sections that he could have cut down on. However, his focus is incredibly engaging and funny and I appreciated being able to listen to his story, which I did at 1.5 rather than my regular 2 times speed, so I could really absorb it all. I’m so glad I picked this up and I feel like I learned so much about the editor-author relationship and I really appreciated the collaborative role that he highlighted throughout the book.

I'm not as acquainted with Robert Gottlieb as I should be. He's edited Toni Morrison, Robert Caro, Bill Clinton, Michael Crichton, in addition to being editor of The New Yorker and Knopf.
