I think this book was better than the first. At times there was too much inner monologue and for a bit it moved at a snails pace. The last 4-5 chapters were really good and the conclusion of the story was not what I expected.

At first I was ready to complain about how the book reads pretty much like an ACOTAR fanfic, but honestly? I think I enjoyed this a lot more. The characters seemed fleshed out to me, each characters' motivations felt unique and I could understand perfectly why the main character felt like she did. You can sometimes feel in it a book, when an author wrote a book based on vibes and hoping for the best, but in this case these books tell me that the author took great care in making them, and was passionate about them.
Very enjoyable duology! I didn’t want to put it down and very much enjoyed the touches of spice that we got. I wanted to give this book 5 stars so bad but it just wasn’t quite there. The FMC would occasionally ask a question she should have already known the answer to. Even though the ending turned out roughly how I wanted, I didn’t like that happened in the last 10 minutes of the book. We also didn’t really get proper closure on one of the MMC’s. All the twists were a bit predictable (especially for someone who reads romantasy). However, all the characters were very easy to love and read about. It was refreshing to have characters be so selfless that they were willing to sacrifice so much for their people. There was lots of adventure and I never felt bored with what was happening. I would definitely recommend to someone that wants to read a quick romantasy duology.
