fifth time re-reading the book and it's still not enough!! there are no words that could describe the love i have in my heart for this story and every single character in it... lilith loml nikanj loml <3 <3 <3
there probably will never be another alien species i love as much as i love oankalis or a character i feel as strongly for as for nikanj, but at least after five years i know it's because of certain neurological problems i possess naturally that i find them incredibly magnetic.
otherwise imagine writing the most INCREDIBLE book about colonialism, race, gender, oppression, bodily autonomy and rape ever... i wish i could make this book mandatory for everyone... for some understanding on these topics for some understanding on the world.... i wish everyone who read this book could understand what it is ACTUALLY about.
i will always defend xenogenesis with my whole chest it should be next to the bible in importance.

I know it’s redundant to say this but whoaaa does Octavia butler know how to craft thought-provoking sci-fi!!!!

It’s an interesting premise here that delves into themes of evolution and humanity. Butler is challenging the notions of what it means to be alien. It’s freaky and asks hard questions, very fork-found-in-kitchen for an Olivia novel! There's much more to discuss, but I’ll restrain myself. 

Looking forward to continuing this series!
