It’s been 30 plus years since I’ve read about Alice. I was a stage hand in a school production of it when I was about 15, so I knew the story quite well.

It’s a great book. Quite unique in that although it’s Victorian (first published 1865) it doesn’t have any moral undertone - it’s just written for fun. I really enjoyed revisiting it and I must dig out my copy of Through the Looking Glass to read soon!

I have never liked this story, and reading it again now (audio read by Geoffrey Giuliano, couldn't find the edition on Storygraph) at 2x speed) has confirmed that for me once and for all. It is too nonsensical and conveys no meaning for me, nor the charm that I usually love about classic children's literature. However, I've given it 2 stars instead of 1 because I know it is beloved by many, has stood the test of time, and I get the feeling that there must be something I'm missing, even some deeper meaning perhaps.

I was impressed by the wit on display. Half the book seems to be Alice getting into arguments with other characters haha
