Felt like I wasted my time with this book. So atrocious that my stomach was churning and begging me to DNF. Freyja pisses me off. Joshua is meh. What’s with the constant winking btw? Anyway this was trash.

Josh was a breath of fresh air, it was very refreshing not to have a brooding H. Liked the beginning and the end, but felt like the middle dragged. Found myself skimming a lot.
For a regency romance, it is refreshing to meet an ugly, ill-tempered heroine. For a Balogh novel, I was able to believe everything that happened and enjoy myself. But for one detail. These novels are written for 21st century women, and so religion is only mentioned in the existence of vicars and churches.
Lady Freya happily tumbles into bed without worrying about her immortal soul, time and again, and refuses to marry her lover.
I am raised Catholic, not Anglican, and I learned the penetration is the holy sacrament and the priest performes a ritual for the public. It is why unconsummated weddings can be annulled. Balogh's characters seem to be informed different.

Freyja meets a man who will be her match. A man who challenges her, but also accepts her, but can they work out a relationship other than the one they're pretending for both their conveniences. Joshua's aunt is a wicked wicked woman.
Might be my fave so far even though we had the "barrier he gently pushed through"
