The movie and some of the TV show touch on some of the things that happen in this section. I like reading this because it goes into more detail about how Clary and Jocelyn ran from Valentine. Also that they not only knew Magus but that Tessa from The clockwork Angel Series was involved.

A depressing view into Celine’s life, and her painful past and the decisions she made that led to her fate. I enjoyed getting to know her character more and better understanding the reasons for her choices.
Meanwhile, the search for the lost Herondale continued with an interesting twist and intersection with Jem’s and Tessa’s lives.
It was a good novella and an interesting story to tell. The audiobook, narrated by an actress from the TV show Arrow was a bit confusing to my ear after being so familiar with the character Felicity, but she played the angsty teen well.

"I sometimes think there is nothing more painful than love denied. To love someone you cannot have, to stand beside your heart’s desire and be unable to take them in your arms. A love that cannot be requited. I can think of nothing more painful than that."

I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS NOVELLA! THIS MAY BE MY MOST FAVORITE NOVELLA AFTER "EVERY EXQUISITE THING".

My heart aches for Cecile. She deserves all the love in the world. I just wanna hug her so bad. NOW, I NEED MORE BOOKS ABOUT HER, CASSIE!
I am also so invested about Cecile and Stephen. The whole unrequited love part breaks me and I like to know what happened next for them and how they eventually got married. It was very interesting to read about their generation. To read about Stephen, Cecile, Robert and also, Valentine! The young Robert Lightwood reminded me of Alec's temper. 😅
Also, every time I read about another Herondale from any other generation, my heart just flip flops. You know, it's just a default feeling now. I wish to know more about these lost Herondale bloodline and what happened to Rosemary. And is Kit also part fae then? 🙀

“I due rimasero abbracciati a lungo. Zaccaria aveva udito spesso l’espressione “aggrapparsi con tutte le forze”, ma raramente l’aveva vista messa in pratica. La coppia si stringeva l’uno all’altra come se fosse l’unica maniera per sopravvivere.
Si ricordò di aver amato qualcuno a quel modo. Rammentò l’impossibilità di dire addio.”

CELINE: "It's like and Eidolon demon tried turning into Cyndi Lauper and accidentally got stuck midway through."
ROBERT LIGHTWOOD: "Huh? Is that another Warlock?"
STEPHEN HERONDALE: "Yeah, Robert. Another warlock. The Clave executed her 'cause she just wanted to have fun."

*CELINE AND STEPHEN FIGHTING PIGEON DEMONS*

STEPHEN: "You sure there's not some kind of rune to keep these foul beasts away?"
CELINE: "The great Herondale warrior afraid of pigeons?"
STEPHEN: "Not afraid. Simply exhibiting a prudent amout of caution in the face of a potentially demonic creature."
CELINE: "Demon pigeons?"
STEPHEN: "I look upon them with great suspicion." *'As he spoke, another flock of pigeons took flight from the cobblestones, and for a moment all was wings and feathers and Stephen's rather high-pitched squeal.'*

*LATER THE THREE WALKING THROUGH THE STREETS OF PARIS*

ROBERT: "Can we pick up the pace? The sooner we get this done, the sooner we can get back to civilization. And air-conditioning."
STEPHEN: "The faster we go, the more you'll sweat. And trust me, no one wants that."

bahahahahahahahahaha THIS! THIS IS WHAT I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR! To see personality with Stephen Herondale. And after this story all I can say is that Jace is definitely his father's son. Oh how I loved him in here even more and I can't imagine if he had lived, what it would've been like with both father and son. I guess we all know the answer and that we'd all be doomed *laughing*

So overall this story is more on Celine Montclaire, Jace's mother, and I LOOOOOOVED sweet Celine. to see what she went through, to see her life with her family, and wanting to prove herself to someone like Valentine and especially her love for Stephen Herondale was heartbreaking. But I can tell Celine is one special character. a special girl. She seriously would've been an AMAZING mother to Jace and Stephen an amazing father as well. I really looooooved this one actually. A new favorite. *heart eyes*
