I quite enjoyed the story though I do want to read the full version. I’m withholding a rating of the book until then.

I am not afraid of storms, for I am learning how to sail my ship.
I really do want to read all of those books you're supposed to have read. I mean, I've read literally no Jane Austen. But the trouble is, these books were written back when writing style was more flowery and very very wordy and it gets tiresome. Achingly tiresome.
Which is why I've had this audiobook ready to go for a couple of years, and just kind of...didn't.
I love these sisters. I love the family dynamic, and the morality lessons, and the 'scrimp and pinch to make ends meet' mentality throughout. There's so much love, and sibling rivalry, and every day life going on here.
However. Once the girls reached adulthood, I really stopped caring. I liked seeing Meg get her hoity toity peg taken down a notch by her husband saying he couldn't buy a new coat because she was a selfish brat, but other than that, what the women do once they hit adulthood drags on. And on. And on. AND ON.
It's a shame, because I was feeling really great about the first half. I think I'll give my copy to my goddaughter for when she's a little older. Very cute.
