Dark, tense and strangely intriguing. On the surface it’s a classic tale of someone, with their own deeply troubled upbringing, taking children, holding them captive and murdering them but there are plenty of twists and extra layers of interest. There are deep routed patterns to the victims he selects, which are novel and fascinating, added with some religious fanaticism. I also loved the modern twist of the story being presented by a main and pivotal character and as a series of podcasts. A seriously addictive read and very enjoyable.

Omg so good! I love true crime podcasts, so a novel about someone doing a true crime podcast that she is involved in was so meta! Couldn’t put it down.
medium-paced

If you like serial killer books & books with a podcast… pick this one up! I really enjoyed this one. It also has an amateur sleuth situation. Which I’m fond of. A good twist too! I didn’t know it but then I was wondering if it may have been obvious once it was revealed but it def went over my head. This felt like a race against time and I loved the psychological aspects.

3.5 ⭐️

I loved how fast paced this book moved! At first, I wasn’t sure I was going to like how some of the chapters were podcast episodes because I didn’t think it would flow with the “normal” chapters, but I ended up liking it since the podcast episodes did provide us with some background we did need. With that being said, some of the twists were pretty predictable and you could see how they were forming pretty early on in the book. Overall, I did enjoy this book and found it interesting!

Brilliant plot twist, was trying to figure out what it was going to be and I did not see that coming (apart from the audio of the girl recounting the kidnapping etc did sound alike the same person underneath, but assumed they just used the same narrator. So well done.

This was so bad i cannot even wrap my mind around the fact that it went through multiple editors and somehow has 3.8 stars? It’s a mess. It’s boring. It’s a no from me.
