The audio book was boring asf but so was the e book so I was stuck with the audio bc that would have been the only way I finished it. Omg this book was boring! The plot was basic, there was a good twist about Noah and Gansey, but that was it really... like I don't understand why anything matters. Ley lines are energy. And what about it? Idk don't read my review. It was so hard to pay attention to this I was half zoned out. There were so many useless words here just filling the space. I felt like almost none of it was important. I wish I liked this more. I almost feel similarly to than I did reading The Cruel Prince.

This is a great introduction to the series. I immediately wanted more. The way magic is written about and the mind's perception of it is really unique for a fantasy book, though this modern/urban fantasy. Still, the characters all have their own lives and personalities and it's a great introduction to them. It's hard to remember what was in this book versus the entire series but the twist for this book wasn't very surprising. Maybe I had read a spoiler before or I guessed it, but even then it didn't take away from just how well the book is written.

I've read books where the writing is amazing but the plot is bad but this has everything: plot, writing, characters and theme. It's a very magical beginning.
