Ohhh wow.

This is so totally my shit. Erotic, disturbing, front-loaded with a constant feeling of dread and finished with
top-tier body horror
. Such a powerhouse of a little queer horror book. Basically everything I've been searching for. I just love how weird and nasty this is, while also having some of the most beautifully evocative prose I've read in a minute? Feels very nicely crafted while also refusing to pull it's punches. Made me think a lot of one of my favorite horror games/pieces

A strange book, a young student moves in with another woman whilst studying biology at University & seems to loose her mind.

A lovely, creepy little lesbian horror story in which the plot moves like it's drowning in a bowl of milk. The prose is very dreamlike and Kafkaesque, and in truth very little actually happens, but I was still invested and wanted to make it to the end. LOTS of rotting fruit and bodily functions (urine, menstruation, etc), so your mileage may vary if you find that sort of stuff gross or uncomfortable, but beyond that it wasn't too disturbing or frightening. Made for a great, quick Halloween read.

Very lurid and visceral. The piss scenes are descriptive and gross, so if you're really not interested in that don't read, but it's not as bad as I was expecting based on other's responses. It was easy to be immersed in this weird fever dream, and I'm still not sure what was real and what wasn't. It's a great exploration of the gross physicality of desire and obsession, but I think the ending ended just a little too soon, which is what keeps me from giving it 5 stars.

It’s hard to review this book because I don’t feel like I really understood it by the end. It has extremely beautiful, haunting imagery of a young woman coming into herself. I just feel like it gets so far from a normal narrative that I shouldn’t have been reading it on my breaks at work lol

I don't have much to say. The book is very short and there is a theme of queer awakenin  and the awakening of sexual desire in a young adult but it didn't resonate with me. The life cycle is of an apple is very prominent and a very big metaphor in the book which I did enjoy but I'm not personally a fan of books with a no b plot and Joe's interactions with her roommate are very much. The only things talked about even when it comes to side characters. It's not really about them or who they are. As people it doesn't explore much of the side characters. That was obviously an artistic choice just not the one that I favor.
