I had thought this book would have a larger scope, but it's pretty much focused on one part of the Revolutionary War military campaign. The parts that quoted original sources such as letters and diaries were the most enjoyable parts of this book.
This book seems very interesting from what I read so far, but it was not what I was expecting. It was really more of a history book with facts, I was expecting sort of a historical fiction adaptation with dialogue. I didn't bother getting far enough into it, and I don't think I want to.
I think I went into this book with too high of expectations. I loved the primary sources. I was frustrated several times by unclear passages - or several times I felt like he spent a lot of time talking about things I wasn't that interested it, but then would throw off a statement and I wanted more information, substantiation.
Really makes the Revolution come alive. I highly recommend this author.
Very well written. It gave me a greater appreciation for George Washington, and for his "ragtag" army. We are deeply in their debt.

Superb example of narrative history, focusing on a pivotal year in American history.
You know how some dads are suddenly into like history and war?
Turns out, that's not me.

I don't usually read nonfiction (that's what Wikipedia is for!) but this was good :)
