This was a great ending to the duology it wrapped things up but had lots of twists and turns some of which you expect others that just hit you but totally make sense when you reflect. I loved the characters and the depth of it as no one was purely good everyone is a bit monstrous.

OMG WHAT A READ!!!
SKOL!

it was an entertaining story of course but i think there was too much happening while being so predictable on how it would end. this was definitely an “i didn’t say it was good, i said i liked it” kind of story.

Tedious. Book one was a fun fantasy adventure. Book two was a whole bunch of: I can’t trust that person but now I can, but now I can’t. And a bunch of Freya’s inner turmoil about not using her hell powers and then using them and feeling bad about it. And the back and forth with Bjorn was beyond slow and tedious.
I don’t know what happened between the writing of book one and two, but this doesn’t even seem like the same series. Fiery Freya is full of indecision and regrets and the fun and cheeky Bjorn is reduced to a puppy with his tail between his legs, waiting for forgiveness.

3.75/5 overall, I enjoyed it as a wrap-up of the duology, Saga of the Unfated, and how much Norse mythology was included because I didn’t know a lot of the gods and references and enjoyed learning about the myths. I would recommend it if you enjoyed the first book, but I felt a bit dissatisfied with it as its own story. That being said, I don’t know what I would have wanted done differently so I’m not sure how fair the criticism is.
