NOOOOOOOOOOO 😮, I was NOT expecting that!

Before I started this book, I thought that this was just a duet (no idea why?) and that we'd get everyone's happy ending. Whilst I'm happy that the main couple have rediscovered each other even though they still have much to re-learn, the brutal war goes on and poor Ayra! She has been left in a dire situation  😱 and I have no idea when the next one is coming!

THIS is why I try to binge series most of the time, the wait in between is just too much for my greedy soul! That and the fact that I needed to skim through book 1, which I read around the middle of last year, in order to remind myself of the world, the characters and what had happened in the story so far.

Echoes of Rebellion picks up immediately from where  Echoes of the Crown ended, and included pirates and an entire ship of them, with a female Captain. I've not read a ton of pirates in books, but the few I have, I've enjoyed immensely so maybe I need to seek out more.  I will say that as exciting and action packed as this was, I think the pacing was off as it took me quite a time to get into, but then I was hard pressed to put it down and the end came faaar too soon.

And as an aside, I loved the casual queerness of one of the pirates, Rizz, panting after Charlie - but without any malice as he is well aware that Charlie isn't gay. It was just amusing 😅 , especially as Charlie kind of took advantage of it and actually became quite fond of him - but again without the least bit of malice.
