this was so silly and fun!!
i didn’t realise it was a romcom until i started reading, despite the reviews on the cover being emily henry and beth o'leary so i was very pleasantly surprised.
anyway i LOVED THIS! i will be tuning in for the sequel i love u meddy my insane complicated queen

Brilliantly funny!
A feel good “WTF are we going to do” book, with a pinch of romance!
The aunties are hilariously fabulous.
When the description says “laugh out loud” it isn’t an hyperbole!!! I looked like a lunatic LOLing in the streets while listening to this book, but it was worth it ☺️
Excited for the next one

The first 100 pages of Dial A for Aunties is fantastic, but the other 200 pages fall apart. This book is mostly an entertaining romp all the way through (movie material for sure), but the plot's craftiness and the characterization becomes stilted and shallow the further along the story gets.
A good example of this is that I about peed my pants laughing at Meddy explaining what the eggplant and wet emojis mean in a dating context to her mom and her aunties' reactions. But later, we find out that part of Ah Guan's scheme meant he knew that he was talking to Meddy's mom. This drove a plot hole into the middle of the joke and retroactively made the scene far less funny.
The entire reunited romance plot with Nathan was unbelievable because you had to believe he was flawless, naive, and always forgiving. He barely had a character outside of still being in love with Meddy. Either the romance needed to be leaned way into or taken out entirely.
Dial A for Aunties was entertaining, but ultimately, couldn't hold its liquor.
