Well this hut me hard but I also felt seen in so many ways. This is so much more than just poetry. There's discussions about grief, generational trauma, expectations that others place on us and those that we place on ourselves, toxic relationships, growing up black or mixed race and/or LGBTQIA+.
What Mase has created here is truly universal. He tells us his story without sugar coating it and never being afraid to admit when he'd done wrong or made questionable choices. This book also includes pages that we, if we so choose can write about our own grief and creativity and also a place to plan if our creativity is already (or we want to make it) our job.
As this book can be read/used in many different ways I can see myself revisiting this many times.
