Everyone needs to read this book. Everyone needs to be kind and not be afraid to stand up for what they know is right.

An important book that doesn't get bogged down in being important. The stories of Max - an American boy who moves to Brussels under duress for a year - and Ahmed - a Syrian refugee intertwine and amplify as the story advances. Perfect voice and pacing keep the story tight - the perfect vehicle for learning more about a contemporary refugee experience without it feeling "messagey." I read part and listened to the audiobook for part - both are fantastic.

Oh man, Emily and I thought this book was great! Lots of new information for her about refugees, how things are done in other countries, and even (lightly) bullies. Really well done book!

An amazing story of friendship, courage and hope. Set against the horrible situation of the Syrian Refugee Crisis in Brussels, two boys overcome tough obstacles to forge an unlikely bond. I’d highly recommend for upper middle-grade to YA.

Excellent! Exciting! Laughter and crying and social issues. Great read for anyone 6th grade and up. I am sure this book will get many awards.

Two teenage boys, uprooted from their homelands through vastly different circumstances, form an unusual friendship.

This is a fantastic book, necessary read for everyone, Syrian refugees are not terrorists, they're desperately trying to escape violence and they need our collective help and sympathy.

This portrays a beautiful friendship born from learning about each other, helping one another learn the meaning of being brave and showing how hope and never giving up can change one's destiny.
