It’s actually pretty fantastic and quiet a page turner. It’s sold on being scary with lots of horror elements but is closer to a investigation of cults then it is to a horror story. The funny part is that this is like a precursor to Midsommar, but the “horror” readers are supposed to feel comes from the power of women dominating men and men being the victims. It’s Midsommar except from the boyfriend’s perspective.

I absolutely LOVED it! This novel starts off very slow but once it gets going, it’s hard to put down. The writing, the plot, the story, the mystery of Harvest Home, all of it was so horrifying!

You follow Ned, a New York artist, and his wife Beth as they find a quiet little town to bring their ill daughter Kate too. Leaving New York at first was exciting and the family enjoys all the weird eccentricities seen in this small town full of “yokels” as their daughter calls them. Gradually however things start to occur and the town begins to become more sinister. As Ned starts to unravel the truths of Cornwall Combe and it’s rituals, the reader also begins to piece together the truth of Harvest Home.

I won’t mention anything else because I went into this one with very little to go off of, and it made the eerie mystery even more unsettling. Great read for the fall and excellent horror novel! I can’t wait to read more by this author!
