3 stars. I loved The Raven and the Banshee so it was pretty cool to be back in this world with Branna and Julia again. This was a really short little side adventure and sort of a pre isn’t really a necessary read but it was fun nonetheless.

A teaser story set in the world of the author's Caribbean pirates novel The Raven and the Banshee. Like most f/f pirate stories, a bit light on history and heavy on swashbuckling. If you like this sort of thing, you’ll probably like it.

A very short but fast-paced story, just enough to give the reader a taste of what could be: intriguing characters with hints at a backstory that make me want to know more about them, swashbuckling pirates and an heiress who’s sexy, kind and brave, a potentially fascinating world-building and the possibility of adventures. A quick and exciting read by an author, [a:Carolyn Elizabeth|18926758|Carolyn Elizabeth|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1562542708p2/18926758.jpg], whose first two novels I have loved, trying her hand at something different.

Pirates. Swashbuckling pirates. Not at all what I was expecting from this author but I'm game. Hope she can turn this into a full length novel.
