Stunning. Heartwarming and absolutely heartbreaking. Absolutely worth reading even if you saw the movie first (like I did, decades ago!)

I’d honestly give this one a solid 4.5 but for King I will round up. The writing is exactly what you would expect from him, entertaining, colorful and picturesque. I gave it a half of a star because I got a teensy bit bored with the plot and was more so just wanting to finish the book. Now don’t get me wrong, I thought the 6 books were strung together nicely but maybe I’m just not too much into prison stories? That or I was unable to put the fourth wall down for the “powers” John Coffey possessed. Had this not been an “unnatural” plot I might of been more interested but what can I expect? “Unnatural” is Stephen Kings niche. For some reason though, for this story, the super natural just didn’t do it for me. Still a great read though.

To be honest I wasn't too keen on this one. I found it difficult to follow. This is probably one of the very few books where I will say (please don't stone me to death for this) that the movie was actually better than the book.
