another book with South Asian representation. I loved this book and all the books this author has wrote within this series. I think its so important exploring the racist aspects of the Indian community and the stigma that is held on marrying someone outside of race and religious beliefs in a modern society.

It was pretty good, with a couple of cute moments. Just wasn’t quite as good as The Trouble with Hating You, likely because I feel like the author couldn’t delve into certain topics as deeply as I would have liked (probably because the main topics of The Trouble with Hating You were  more familiar to the author). Some of the long speeches felt a little hollow. Overall though, it was a good and interesting read, just probably not something I’d keep coming back to reread.

I am a sucker for second chance romances and this book did not disappoint. Preeti and Daniel's relationship evolves and strengthens over time, with the both of them learning from their past mistakes that caused the end of their relationship and Preeti deciding to take a stand for herself because she is strong enough. She recognises that some events of the past were not her fault, but due to toxic family members and social circle, but she also recognises that she made mistakes and owns up to them, not letting herself fall into the same traps. Honestly, one of my favourite characters I love her so much!

SpoilerOk I feel like someone should say it but how sadistic does my boi Daniel have to be to build the dream house he designed with (or maybe even for) the love of his life even when his heart was broken by her literally 6 years ago!?! I genuinely can't imagine LIVING in a house I had envisioned with the love of my life without that person. IDK Daniel is another breed of yearning.

This was a pretty down-to-earth romance. I liked that this was about repairing an old love, which I feel like I don't see that much in romance. I also liked how the third act conflict wasn't annoying and was more about the leads working together as a team to resolve a conflict, rather than miscommunicating and fighting. The male romantic lead felt a little too perfect. I think the author forgot to give him a flaw of any significance, other than maybe jumping to conclusions. In any case, gave me nice feelings. Would recommend.

This was an amazing book. I loved getting more time with Preeti. After reading The Trouble with Hating You I was expecting a dual narrator experience and at first I was disappointed, but I ended up loving the voice in this one.

Own Voices books are my new favorite romance. Patel writes this so well as she infuses her culture into her books. I love learning the culture while becoming engrossed in the story.

Preeti's story was so relatable for me on some levels. I'm not Indian, but I did grow up in a very conservative background that often had judgemental people. I loved watching Preeti become stronger and more willing to stand up for herself.

I really appreciated the anxiety awareness in this book. This could be a trigger for some, but for me it made me feel seen and I don't even suffer near the level of panic and anxiety as Preeti. Her character was so believable and realistically flawed.

I loved Daniel. He is everything you want in a book boyfriend. He takes amazing Cate of Preeti in so many ways.

Truthfully this review doesn't do the book justice. It was amazing.

I received an advanced copy of this book through NetGalley. This is my honest review.

An incredible followup to the first book in this series. I really loved the romance and the chemistry the characters had on page. It made it very apparent they had history and instantly made me root for them to resolve their pasts and get back together. A big fan of the one bed/one apartment trope that was masterfully executed for maximum awkward run-ins, partial nudity, lots of proximity and almost touches, plus a boatload of well timed innuendos. Excellent book, can't wait for the rest of the books in this series!!
