4.5 stars. It just goes to show that you don't have to have a book filled with cliff-hangers to make a good detective story.

This book was fast and easy to read with a straightforward language. I quite enjoyed it, but it wasn't anything particularly exciting. There wasn't anything memorable or special about the characters or the mystery aspect or the plot of the book to me. It is an important book I guess though. It is a social critique of the Sicilian society of that time and the power within it. The ending left me unconvinced and a bit angry. The book overall was okay. I don't have any strong emotions towards it.
