An intriguing look into the life of an Iranian woman who grew up in turbulent times.

A wonderful read.

This graphic novel really captures the life of a teen who has left a repressive country for another that does not feel like home, and the struggles that came with it. Whether in Austria or Iran, Marjane struggled to find her way.

I really like the rawness of this story. It was different from the first book. The world is different to one of your childhood and it is hard, cold, solitary and cruel. People not always mean what they said; they don’t always keep their word. The world does not fulfill your expectations, people definitely do not. Nevertheless, you can find happiness and peace, even if home doesn’t feel like home anymore.

I cringed when I got this book in a Christmas book exchange because it is in comic book format. I was wrong. It's a good book and the illustrations add to the story. It's definitely worth a quick and easy read.

A sequel that didn't reach my expectations set by the first. Still, a fine follow-up for those interested in Marjane's life following her departure from Iran.
