Continuation of Marjane's story and her growth into womanhood, the challenges she faces and the decisions she makes about her future. Riddled with little nuances of youthful mistakes and regrets, outbursts, and revelations, with the backdrop of the unrest in Tehran.
This was a lot more disjointed and hard to follow than the first book. The first one I had trouble putting down, and this one I had trouble finishing. The story is still interesting, but it just didn't hold my attention like the first one did.
After spending several years studying and living a wild lifestyle in Austria, Marjane Satrapi returns to her native Iran, where the effects of the Islamic Revolution are still going strong. Home again, she struggles to find herself, returning to school, falling in love, exploring ideas with new friends, and discovering more about her family’s history, all the while trying to avoid The Guardians of the Revolution.
Persepolis 2 is just as enjoyable as the first, and I look forward to reading more of Satrapi’s work.

Interesting look into the Iranian culture.
In this volume, the war in Iran is over, and after several generally unhappy and difficult years in Austria, Marjane decides to go home. As expected, she struggles with fitting in in Tehran--she did not experience the war years, she must stay covered in public, and women have few rights. But she makes friends, goes to school, and marries. And then leaves for France at the age of 24.
This volume is not as strong as the first, but then the events occurring are not as dangerous either. The black and white illustration still works well. There are definitely some absurd situations, especially revolving around her time in art school.

Just as good as part 1! I especially liked the section after Marjane returns to Iran, mainly because I love reading about her relationships with her parents and the rest of her family. I hope to continue the journey with volume 3!
