Really did not like this follow up to Persepolis 1. As I said in my previous review it reminded me of the parts of Eat, Pray, Love that I didn't like. Maybe because this one was a little less nostalgic for the author but it was really hard to like her throughout the book. She didn't make me empathise with her so much as making me want to smack her back to reality. I would stick to the first one and skip this altogether.
“Freedom had a price”. Brilliant true story. It’s no wonder why this is considered one of the greatest graphic novels ever written. I highly recommend it if you’ve never read it.
Great book! But I’m not putting this one in my classroom library. It’s too adult-ish for my 8th graders. The first book will go in my classroom library, though.
This books is just as engrossing and quick to read as the first. Marjane's struggles in Austria are heartbreaking and her return to Iran isn't much better. The trials people experience(d) there are immense and this graphic novel brings them to light for anyone interested.
I didn't enjoy this story as much as book one but it was still worth the read.
