Enjoying the bits of backstory we get in this volume. Some humor and light on the mystery here, but still we get to see Maomao's wits in action. This volume seems a go-between in-between larger story arcs as it completes the last volume and moves forward to more scenes with Maomao's father.

Maybe too much going on at the same time. The murder attempt on Jinshi (didn't get everything there), the return to the forbidden court, the ox thing, the courtisane etc. Couldn't seem to properly focus and understand everything.
