I do not include the book description in my review, only my thoughts and feelings. The plot moves pretty well, though it is mostly predictable; this is definetely not a mystery, but a suspense novel. The suspense factor is well done, as we wait for the all knowing "Axe to drop." The suspense is so well built, I at one point had a racing heart beat and feelings of anxiety as I read! My complaint is the protagonist is gullible and makes bad decisions repeatedly, falling into nearly every trap set for her, which made me feel like slapping my palm to my forehead and yelling "How stupid can you be?" You know the feeling of when you are watching a scary movie and the character always runs the wrong way from the killer, and you yell at the tv "Don't go that way!" This novel is not scary, but this a good analogy to explain my emotions. The protagonist falls into so many traps and is gullible, it may move the plot for the author, but is frustrating to me as a reader. On the other hand in comparison, the antagonist is highly educated and has highfalutin grammar, and is intellectually manipulative and calculating. The plot is cat and mouse of these two characters. There is some repetitiveness, but still I did find this enjoyable and I do recommend.

I wasn’t expecting what happened.. and that’s a great thing.

Way too long and drawn out, took several days to listen to on audio book. No real thrills, highly disappointed.

P This book showed me that I may not be one for psychological thrillers. Not that I disliked it, but it was very unsettling and often creepy. The author did an excellent job of making the reader wonder who was lying and who was telling the truth. At the same time, I got frustrated with the main character and the decisions she made about how to handle the situation. While the author did a good job of creating justifications for her decisions and actions, I struggled with it.

It took me a little bit to figure out the chapters that were written in the second person, though that could’ve been because I listened to the audiobook and didn’t read the hardcopy. Lots of references and discussion of psychological concepts and behavioral concepts for readers who are into or has studied psychology.

When Jessica Farris signs up for a psychology study conducted by the mysterious Dr. Shields, she thinks all she’ll have to do is answer a few questions, collect her money, and leave. But as the questions grow more and more intense and invasive and the sessions become outings where Jess is told what to wear and how to act, she begins to feel as though Dr. Shields may know what she’s thinking… and what she’s hiding. Caught in a web of deceit and jealousy, Jess quickly learns that some obsessions can be deadly. review: I thoroughly enjoyed The Wife Between Us, so I was excited to get my hands on their newest book, An Anonymous Girl. From the first chapter I was hooked and kept quickly turning each page to see how the story would unfold. I had a few ideas on what the twist was, but each one proved to be wrong. I loved the suspense and the way they story was told. This author duo are so great together and I’m already crossing my fingers for another book from them. rating: 4 out of 5 ⭐️
