This really exceeded my expectations. I listened to it on audio and found it so addictive! Really easy to listen to, lots of suspense and great twists. Right up my street as it didn’t take deep concentration to keep up, as there weren’t loads of characters to get to grips with.
The dream team of Hendricks and Pekkanen is back at it with another psychological thriller. This time, the psychological angle is taken quite literally, as the subject of the book is also the subject of a clinical trial. This book has a few twists to it and is well-written, fast paced and an overall enjoyable read.
I received an advance copy of this book from the publisher.

Interesting... kind of a psychological rollercoaster.
Thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the ARC!
Okay, y'all - if you liked Hendricks and Pekkanen's other book, The Wife Between Us, or any of the other wife-slightly-crazy twisty thrillers (Gone Girl, The Last Mrs. Parrish to name a couple), pick this up ASAP.
Jess, a typical twenty-something signs up to be a subject in a study in exchange for cash. The way this novel is written makes it clear immediately that there's more to be learned on both sides - about Jess, who seems typical, but has secrets, and about the doctor, who's clearly out for more than just research. The POV of the doctor is slightly creepy, in such a way that you're immediately on edge. Then with Jess, I felt like she was a real person. One second, she's sure about something and a couple pages (or one conversation) later, it all changes. Rest assured, this isn't a story where you'll figure out all the twists.
5/5, loved in, canceled other plans to continue reading.

I loved Hendrick's & Pekkanen's first novel [b:The Wife Between Us|34189556|The Wife Between Us|Greer Hendricks|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1496862122s/34189556.jpg|55227731], and I was really excited to read An Anonymous Girl. Their second novel did not disappoint.
It all begins when Jessica (interestingly enough) fibs her way into a study on ethics to make a few hundred dollars. And it turns out she is exactly what Dr. Shields is looking for in a subject.
The book takes off from there on a wild ride full of twists and turns as Jessica continues to participate in the study. The study in itself is interesting - we are faced with ethical choices every day and are we making the right ones? Of course, the book is much more than just the study. I don't want to give away any spoilers, but I will say that An Anonymous Girl is a well-written and tightly plotted page turner.
If you enjoy domestic noir or psychological thrillers, don't miss this read!

Another in a long line of psychological thrillers. Jessica Ferris needs money. When she is doing hair and makeup for a couple of college students, she comes across a piece of paper - an invitation to join a psychology study. Jessica signs up for the study in which she will be asked questions and is asked to answer them honestly. They start out pretty benign and easy to answer, but become steadily more probing and alarming. Jessica begins to wonder just who Dr. Shields is and what this experiment is really all about.
Quite well written and one of the better books in this genre that I have read.

There is something very intriguing about a good cat and mouse story. The book begins with Jessica, a makeup artist living in NYC who poses as one of her rich college clients in order to make some quick cash. The local school is conducting a psychology study on ethics and morality that Jessica successfully sneaks into, or so she thinks. As the questions grow more and more invasive, she begins to wonder what the end game is for the mysterious Dr. Shields.
Green Hendricks and Sarah Pekkanen weave a tale of obsession and deceit in An Anonymous Girl. I quite enjoy dual narrative books that offer the perspectives of both protagonist and "villain". The story allows the reader to watch everything unfold and see which tricks and traps succeed or fail. Overall, I enjoyed Jessica's character even though at times it seemed like she was smarter than her actions would have you believe. There were a couple of elements to Dr. Shields' character that I felt were a little bit of a stretch for a psychologist, even one with a dark agenda. For fans of domestic thrillers, An Anonymous Girls checks all the boxes of an enjoyable yet not quite memorable ride.

Interesting and with some twists but overall too long and not very page-turning (hence it taking me a month to finish). I like the chapters alternating between the 2 perspectives and feels like that’s fitting for having 2 authors. I liked this and The Wife Between Us enough but probably wouldn’t reach for another book by these authors
