So at 170 pages in to An Anonymous Girl I messaged a friend who I saw gave this book 4 stars and asked "why the heck did you like this? It's so slow!" and she promised me it would pick up. She was right, it did — but not enough to overcome the incredibly tedious set-up of the first half of the book.
It was more like a 3.5. I don’t I was looking for that plot twist but never happened. I figured it out rather quickly but I was intrigued the whole time so I’m not mad.
Super fun, fast, easy read. Plenty of twists go keep me guessing! I like how narration changed between Lydia and Jess, keeping it fresh.
I didn’t love this. There were some good surprises and plot twists, but I just felt like there wasn’t anything endearing about any of the characters, and I found myself just not caring.
I didn't want to put this book down. I had so many preconceived ideas when I started reading it and I was constantly surprised by the actual direction it took. Brilliantly written and a fabulous ending.
First:
I'd love to say that I love books with short chapters! I'm the kind of reader who won't stop for anything until the chapter is over. I'll take 69 short chapters plus the epilogue (let's be real, it's a chapter, too > so 70) over looooooong chapters that usually don't hold my attention.
Second:
I also love how the book has alternating chapters between the Dr. and patient. Although, I must admit, I didn't understand at first. So this is something you need to know beforehand.
Third:
The characters are purely brilliant! The way a good book makes you feel about characters as if you know them but then (because it's a thriller), your mind changes....and it changes throughout the book; not knowing what's going to happen and what the person is actually thinking. 10/10.
Fourth:
I just love a book that can keep my attention and keep me visualizing like I'm watching a movie the entire time, no matter what's going on in the background. My house is very loud and I never have quiet mom time, so this detail is very important, as is the rest, of course.

Thank you to the authors for your imagination, creativity, and the power to give me empathetic emotions (for every character) while reading it.

Another sick psychological thriller from Hendricks & Pekkanen. I was engrossed by the warped cat and mouse and at times my stomach would do a flip.
