4.5 stars, rounded up! This book reminded me of one of those shows or movies you watch where you start to learn what’s happening (mostly) before the main character has a clue. And you’re sitting there on the edge of your seat hoping that things get figured out before something terrible happens. This book really made me think about how far some people would go for the people they love, and how much situations someone faces can impact the type of person they become. I read this book for hours straight at a time because I was so absorbed in it! I don’t want to say too much about the story itself, but it’s not your average “twisty” thriller. I was wrong with my initial assumptions, though. The pace was perfect for me but could be considered slow to some readers.
Started off fun but the ending was bonkers in a bad way.

I’m usually not into physiological thrillers but this one was pretty good. There were quite a few moments of surprise although the ending was a bit dull compared to other surprises. Would recommend.
A tad bit too predictable. Too much back and forth on who you think the bad guy is that when you finally find out, it looses its AHA moment.
I had a hard time finishing this book; I didn't like any of the characters enough to care about what happened to them.
I read thrillers for fun, mostly because they are always fast-paced and they serve as "fillers" whilst I wait for books to be loaned to me by the library. So, I like reading thrillers that have over-the-top plot twists, but at the same time have an entertaining story. "The Kind Worth Killing" and "Behind Her Eyes" are a couple of samples that sums it up.
There's nothing wrong with this book. It had an interesting and well-written story but it was just not my cup of tea.

This was so unnecessarily long. I felt like it just dragged on and on and never stopped; it could have ended so much earlier than it did.
I think what annoyed me most was the level of convenience, if that's the word. Dr. Shields is just soooo smart that she figures things out by a spot a pen made and the way a folder is facing? That's just one example of how ridiculous it was.
I didn't care about Jess, which kind of defeats the whole point of reading the book.

I couldn't stop listening to this audiobook! It's not necessarily a thrilling story but a fascinating psychological mystery. You can't trust anyone in this book even though you get the perspective of the two main characters. I would definitely recommend this if you like character-based mysteries.

Everyone in this book thinks they’re really smart
