This was okay...entertaining, but pretty predictable. As thrillers go, a bit pedestrian. Not as gripping as the Wife Between Us.

The narration style was a bit weird, but I ended up finishing it in one sitting to figure out what happened!
I listened on Audible, which is a different experience. But in general, I thought the twists and turns were good. While some plot points are easy to guess what will happen in the end, how they get there is unexpected, and I am left guessing throughout.
3.5*
I actually really enjoyed this! The tone of it was exactly what I needed and there were a good amount of twists and turns that I didnt see coming. I will say that the ending fell a bit flat for me. I was hoping for a bit more shock/ for Lydia to do a bit more.
Overall, a fun and quick thriller read!

This started off strong. Dark, twisted, very mysterious. I really enjoyed the protagonist, Jess. I thought that she was fairly well developed. She was complex but likable. Her backstory was extremely sympathetic and it was so easy to understand her desperation.
But then it just got too personal. Lydia and Thomas were boring. Thomas should have suffered some sort of legal consequences, and Lydia was just extra petty. It dragged on a little too long and lost momentum.

I like the dual narration of this thriller. Part of the story is told from Jessica's point of view. Jessica is a young woman who lies her way into a psychological study on ethics & morality. Jessica just wants the promised stipend but ends up getting much more than she bargained for when she agrees to participate in an extended version of the experiment.
The other narrator is the doctor who's conducting the study. Dr. Lydia Shields is shady AF and uses Jessica as more than a study subject.
Pretty entertaining read overall.

Pretty entertaining read overall.
Maybe my expectations were too high but... I was really not impressed by this book. The story is interesting and original, and you know I love me some shady characters (and in this book there's plenty of them) but... the infamous Anonymous Girl is pretty stupid. There, I said it.
The writing was also a bit disappointing, too simple and plain at times (especially at the beginning). Still I was entertained for a couple of days, so it's a good read. 3 stars.

De stukken in 'jij'-vorm werken voor mij totaal niet.
Nonsensical plot and way too long. Mad I listened to the whole thing. Maybe I would have liked it more in print?
