Small town heart with big personality. Locke dares to find the funny. With sassy characters, spicy chemistry and emotion that runs deep, More Than I Could makes it's presence known. Locke brings the flavor and Thom and Mitchell are the icing on the cake. A feel good heart warmer.
Chase Marshall is a good man. A solid (in every way!), hard-working, decent guy. He's up to his neck in parenting a 14-year-old girl, and it's taking everything he's got. Add in the hot nanny for the month, and he blows a fuse (pun intended - he works as a line man). Fortunately for all involved, the good man is also a great dad, and he is willing to do whatever his daughter needs, including dealing with the hot nanny while his parents are away for a month visiting his sister.
It's one of those tropes that could easily be cliche. However, Ms. Locke does not do cliche. She writes rich, multi-dimensional characters and fully fleshed-out worlds that they inhabit. This book is billed as a stand-alone but written in a way that could be the first in a series because of how detailed a picture she paints of Peachwood Creek. She also includes three parents, four siblings, a best friend, a former boss and a couple of colourful locals as the cast in this story. That's a lot of people for a standalone, but in the hands of this expert storyteller, the reader is never lost and wondering - "who is this person again?" The Marshalls are a great family, and we can only hope to see this become a series. Social media followers of Ms. Locke might also read a few of the Marshall brothers' antics here and there and wonder if perhaps they were derived from the real-life experiences of her four boys. lol
There are some elements of the characters' relationship that are sort of "insta-love" - but it doesn't feel that way because of the rich inner dialogue of both characters, as well as the conversations they have with the important people in each of their lives that reveal the depth of what they are feeling, how it relates to who they are and what they've been through, and their fears. Chase has a rugged exterior, but a soft heart and real tenderness for the people in his life, which is exactly what Megan needs. Their individual scenes/thoughts show us how perfect they are for each other, so the insta-attraction/love makes so much sense.
There's also a "slow burn" feel to some of the story because they don't get together until later in the book, but it also doesn't feel that way because the story leading up to that point is so interesting and also so necessary to them being together. Part of me felt the final resolution was a little too quick/easy, but upon reflection, honestly, I think I just wasn't ready to be done with this book and there was a real "wait, why are there no more chapters?" punch to the gut that happens when you're fully immersed in a story that has come to life.
It was interesting that Kennedy's mom remains a mystery, not just to the reader, but to everyone. Definitely begs to be revealed in subsequent books, but also written in a way that just sits there and fits appropriately in the story. That's how life sometimes is - we don't get all the answers.
Megan fits easily and seamlessly into Kennedy's life because they do have a lot of similarities in their experiences and interests that allow Megan to understand Kennedy in a way that Chase can't. The way Megan stood up for Kennedy was perfect - awesome scene! Their relationship is as important to the story as the relationship between Megan and Chase because he wouldn't bring someone into Kennedy's world who didn't love her deeply.
A heart-warming, feel-good, sweet and heat read. Highly recommend!!
“One day, you’ll wake up and realize that a piece of your heart resides outside your body. You’ll feel a draw to that place no matter where you are in the world. You’ll only feel whole and content when you’re there—and that will be your home. That’s where things make sense. That’s where you’re meant to be.” More Than I Could (Kindle Locations 3100-3102).

4⭐️- I actually really enjoyed this! Super quick and easy read. I am a sucker for the single dad & nanny trope
Thank you to author Adriana Locke and @candikanepr for the advanced review copy, receipt of which did not impact my review. More Than I Could is out now!
Adriana Locke writes such swoony small-town romances, and More Than I Could is another great addition.
Chase needs a nanny to help out temporarily with his daughter while his mom is out of town and he’s going to be on-call for his upcoming lineman duties. Megan is in-between jobs and Chase’s family are friends of the her mom, though they’ve never met before. (And she’s 30, so this is not the typical single dad/nanny trope.)
This book was a quick and light read and leaned into insta-love/insta-lust. They did try to fight it, but did not succeed very well.

This book was a feel good romance. I loved that there was not a huge drama in this book but still a challenge for them to face. The spicy scenes were great. The love between them both and with Kennedy was so sweet. I loved how they all connected with each other. It was saves to put down!
Adriana Locke always writes the best small town romances and this one is no different! This single dad x nanny, small town romantic comedy was everything.
From the beginning I loved Chase and Megan so much! Megan's relationship with Kennedy, Chase's daughter, was so deep to where Megan understood Kennedy was adorable.
I went through every emotion possible during this book and it was hawt! Maxine Mitchell and Tor Thom's narration was perfect for these characters and I really hope we get a chance to visit this small town again in future Adriana Locke books!
Rating: 5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This grumpy/sunshine, single dad romance was such a great story!
Megan and Chase’s story had the chemistry, intense sexual tension and great banter. I loved seeing how she changed Chase’s life in a positive way. I loved Megan’s interaction with his daughter Kennedy. The Marshall family were a great bunch and I would love to see more of them.
Tor Thom and Maxine Mitchell did a really great job narrating and bringing life to the characters.

All her books make me crack up. The stories are similar to other authors, but her writing is just great. The banter and the jokes. So good

More Than I Could was such a heartwarming beautiful story. It made me swoon and smile. It made me fall in love with these characters and root for them on their journey. Adriana writes some of the best characters that I am still thinking about long after I read her stories and this one was no different. I absolutely loved this book and I can't wait for more from Adriana and to see what she has in store for us next.
