I didn’t expect to be so drawn in by this, but it’s a powerful read. Romney comes off as someone genuinely guided by his ethics—even when it cost him politically. His early efforts to push back against Trump were eye-opening. It’s a reminder of what moral leadership can look like, even when it’s not popular.

Wow. Thought provoking. Vibrant. Important.

I don't want to write a review for fear of not adequately expressing how necessary this book is. Whether you agree with Romney's politics or not, I'd recommend giving this a read. This book highlights the importance of self examination and integrity at a deep level.

Coppins does such a good job of capturing Romney. The good and the bad. This book is so well researched with almost 100 pages of notes/sources. Hats off to you, McKay, for being so thorough and so engaging.

I'm a hoe for Mitt. But actually it is fascinating to learn about someone who never intended to go into politics and then became the one of the most hated Republican senators in recent history. We get great insight into his decision making process, both his blunders and successes, as well as the pressures he faced from the party. It's sad to think about how many honorable men and women avoid politics rather than pander to these corrupt party leaders. I liked that this wasn't just a boring memoir about every aspect of his life, but rather was a true introspection of his whole career, knowing what he knows now. And of course, he reminds us of a time when we cared more about policy and treating humans as humans over party loyalty. We talk about minority voices a lot in school, and this is a book that highlights the minority voice in politics, that making the right moral decisions may cost you as election, may even cost you a career. Here is a man who did it anyway. And that's hot.

Fascinating look at a complex human being and some behind the scenes revelations regarding US politics.

Really decent biography, and not that detailed so it doesn't get extremely boring. Also, not the kinda 'look what a great man' biography, even if there is a bit of that too. Some respect for the guy because he stood for what I believed in, even if it's framed in quasi-heroic terms while reading. I thought it's life path is interesting, and I have a soft spot for people who see the deficiencies of their democracies aka set term limits for MPs, senators... ASAP!

Surprisingly excellent and captivating for a biography. I don’t read a lot of them but found this one to be quite enjoyable to read. The chapters were set up to end with books and parts were told in an order that kept my interest engaged. I enjoyed it a lot.
