Given that the plot depends on complicated nuances in social interactions, and how they are read and misread by a variety of characters who are all constrained from saying what they actually think -- it was NOT the best choice to put this book down for months at a time. By the time I picked it back up again, I could no longer remember what everybody thought that everybody else was thinking. Which caused me to put it down once more...

It’s about the pining and the longing. I wasn’t instantly won over by it but I loved it by the end.

The letter!
Oh God, the letter is the most romantic thing I've ever read!

This became quite moreish for me at the halfway point, but… nothing really happens? They literally just decide to get together at the end. Sorry, Jane… :/

there's nothing more I love than a man dramatically exploding into a powerful dialogue about how much he cannot live without the woman he has secretly been in love with for the whole book when the tensions become too high and god nobody does it better than Austin

Theres was not enough interaction between Anne Elliot and Captain Wentworth. I expected more storyline concerning details about their history that would cause the reader to desire them to be back together.

Edited:
After disscussing this book in the class which it was assigned, I have decided to change my rating from 2 starts to 3.5. While I would not say this is one of my favorite Jane Austen novels I have a better appreciation for this novel in particular because it is very realistic in feelings and detail. At first I was disappointed because nothing majorly romantic occurred but thats because Austen places the feelings in small details between the Captain and Anne.
