Codie Crowley perfectly encapsulated what it means to be a young girl and to be taken advantage left and right by people who you believe are supposed to protect you. I rated this four stars because I saw a lot of myself in Annie, making this a little hard to get through, having similar struggles in my youth and when I needed help I had to figure it out on my own. I found myself rooting for Annie’s closure more than I did her vengeance. I would love a second book just to see how Annie and Maura are handling the afterlife and if Grady comes for them on Halloween the same way Annie came for him. I would love to see how she grows more as a ghost. I see a lot of reviews who claim to not care for this book a lot because Annie isn’t relatable and that’s the thing. Most teenagers have a mother and father who are present, that have ✨not expired food✨ in the house, who have siblings who don’t have to play parent. And given the trauma that Annie goes through I’m not surprised that she’s a “bitch” (hell, I was Annie for a long ass time, I get it. I was angry at the world and one day I woke up and was like I don’t want to be a product of my environment) and I decided to change. Annie didn’t get that chance. But that doesn’t make her less deserving of love and closure because she was dealt a bad hand and didn’t know how to deal (she was a child)
I could go on and on and on about this book but it definitely exceeded my expectations. I loved this.

I don’t understand the rating on this book because to me it was GOOD. It was everything I wanted in a thriller-mystery-horror, and Codie Crowley has a way with words that paints every scene for you - from the horror of the dead, to the killings happening or happened in the town. The rage and vengeance from Annie. Her characters were all so quirky and love able, from the twins to Fern to Virgil, and don’t even get me started on Sam - all I could picture was a bad boy ghost version of Matt Dillon as Dally from the outsiders lol. though I wish we had a follow up book or closure on what actually happened to Fern and the other girls. All in all, the book kept me on my toes, turning each page and wondering who did it, and who wronged Annie enough to kill her - but ultimately every man in her life did something that led to her death, so despite her getting revenge on her killer, they were all guilty in my eyes. I am so glad I liked this book, will be looking forward to Codie’s new book coming out!

I enjoyed the book. Very sad about all the dead girls, but I guess that’s what you get with a book like this. It makes me want more justice for all those unidentified victims or unsolved murders. Overall, I enjoyed the book. I didn’t like who the bad guy turned out to be and his reasoning. That was disappointing and seemed maybe a little far-fetched for me. But there were funny moments and a good cast, so not bad.

This was an odd book. I did not like how long it took the main character to realize she was dead. Most of the characters were annoying and it felt like the details were in the wrong spots. I also didn’t like how it’s a book focusing on the wrong men do, but yet the main character was immediately into one of the male ghosts instead of hanging out with the girl more.
It was overall fine and it kept me interested. I can also appreciate wanting to tell the story of girls no one cares about that go missing
