Ahhhhhhh HAAAA!!! I truly loved it!! The way I flipped and flopped over my predictions. The way I HATED having to work, because I wanted to finish the book so bad! The way I fell in LOVE with … well, I can’t spoil it. I’m so glad I bought this book. It’s very Lisa Frankenstein meets Heathers meets I Know What You Did Last Summer.
There is one part of the story that is left unanswered for me. Maybe I missed it? But again, can’t ask… what I can ask is…

IS THIS A SET UP FOR BOOK #2!? Please tell me there is more!! There are questions that need to be answered!!

A little light on the Vengeful part but an entertaining read

Too many plot holes, too many side characters, waited way too long to finally say  “hey the main character is dead”

I don’t mind stepping back into the YA horror space, as a good portion of my enjoyment stems from nostalgia. This certainly felt very akin to a point horror —or one of the multitude of horror pulps from the 80s/90s that I chewed up.

The main character is abrasive, brash, rude, unpleasant and you quickly realise this is due to trauma, though she disguises it under the veneer of being rebellious and cool. Literally every adult failed her in her life and in the course of this story.

It was an okay read; my main impressions of the story largely landed on the idea that it feels  very much like the author thought of a cool premise for a novel but couldn’t quite get it to work on page. The whole Reservation Peak thing felt underdeveloped and not well meshed with the story while the mystery driving the plot was fairly tight.

I had a lot of fun with Here Lies a Vengeful Bitch! The title alone is killer (see what I did there lol) Annie reminded me a bit of who I was when I was that age, rebellious and took action without thinking about repercussions (although she took it up a couple notches). Her banter was great as well as the setting and atmosphere. The overall mystery of who did this to her was great and I only started putting things together towards the end. This was a great whodunnit with a good cast of characters. This was a great first read from the author and I’d definitely be interested in learning more should there be additional books.

A good mix of dark humor, mystery, and ghostly magic. Fun easy read.
