Fun time, no cringey writing but obviously a convenient conflict resolution and the enemies to lovers element subsides as soon as the spice stars. I needed some hate fucking.

the writing in this book was just ... bad. i honestly don't know how i managed to push myself to even 73%. it had a cute and fuzzy storyline, but the writing really turned me off. the characters "rivalry" lasted for like two chapters if that, which was really disappointed. i'm a sucker for banter, and there was little to none here. :(

Nope, sorry, I can't finish this one. I have low expectations for romance novels and actually love when they're unrealistic - but I draw the line at issues with health and safety. Freya is so obsessed with looking cute that she refuses to wear a coat and proper footwear for snow. There are multiple mentions of her not wearing cold weather appropriate clothing because fashion is much more important to her. One of the early chapters also tells us that the characters would be going camping and I didn't read far enough to learn what happened on their camping trip. But I'm imagining frostbite. I just ... ugh. I can't deal with that type of woman. I've come across a few other books with overly social media- and designer clothing-obsessed heroines and I always give up quickly.

I did skip ahead to the candy cane scene everyone was talking about. I was curious, OK? All I could think about was how she's going to get a yeast infection. And he asks if she wants to fe f***ed by the candy cane...that was supposed to be sexy? There is literally nothing sexy about that. No. For so many reasons. Please, for the love of God, do NOT put food (especially candy!) on, in, or around your lady bits.

Maybe it was good otherwise, I just couldn't get past the heroine.

It was pretty fine.

It took me a bit to warm up to Finn His immediate dislike for Freya, calling her a traitor was too much. Like betrayed who?

And Freya you run a ski resort. By proper winter gear.

I liked them both and their relationship near the end.

Saint Nick was the star for me.

Only rating this a 3 because of the Christmas vibes I was getting, but if it weren’t for that, this would be a 2 star on my list.

As much as I loved the whole small town enemies to lovers trope, one thing about Finn Mayberry that I didn’t find all that great was how he kept objectifying Freya as a sex symbol, almost every encounter and being dominant and sexist a few times where his likability meter just fell short. Like, is there ever a time where I can have a few moments where he’s not basically want to fuck Freya every single time? Lolol. Yes, it’s basically another hallmark after dark with its steamy scenes, but Finn just gives off playboy vibes. Freya, why would you fall for him?!

Not to mention, I wanted more out of the Jingle Wars competition and the ending felt a little rushed, but I’m in a jolly mood and it did give me Christmas vibes, so I’ll count it as a plus.

4.5⭐️ I love love loved this one! I’ve been looking for the perfect holiday rom com read and this one just topped the list for me. First off, Freya? Amazing, she’s been through so much in her life and she doesn’t even let on that she has or want to burden anyone with it. Finn? Incredible. So selfless, down to earth, and caring about everything and everyone. Loved the way that he fought his feelings for Freya when she first got to town but knew she was different. Loved the competition concept with the different stages, and I absolutely loved the small town feel
