The narrator poses some interesting existential questions that I have asked myself when considering the topic of motherhood. However she really loses me when she so readily disregards her partners child. She's already a stepmother, I'm confused why she feels she has such a minor connection to this other child or why those feelings don't come up in the context of considering a future pregnancy. Also, the author managed to create the least likeable man of any novel I've read this year. Do all divorced/single dads hate their children this much? It could have been interesting to consider that relationship and what it could mean for the narrator's future child with this man. Oh well.

A brutally honest examination of not only the agonizing question of whether or not to procreate, but the way women have been asked to make decisions, and the way all of us fret about trying to live a “particular” life.

Still don’t know whether I’m going to have kids or not.

Fuck it, if this review gets 10 likes I will.

An interesting meditation on motherhood and the question of whether or not to have children. I found it informative, especially the contrast between parenthood and artistry.
