I wasn’t sure if Stephanie Perkins’ books would be for me, but after reading this it’s clear they’re not.

It wasn’t a hard book to read, I didn’t find myself too bored or struggling to continue reading, but I just didn’t connect with the characters. I found Isla annoying at times and sometimes felt like she’d cry at the drop of a hat, which is something I can’t stand in characters. I don’t have anything against Josh but I think that I found him a little two-dimensional. The story was also a bit too unrealistic for me, perhaps when I was younger I would have enjoyed it and seen past this.

Note: I read this without realising that the books in this series actually have connecting characters. However I don’t think reading the others would have affected my enjoyment of this book.

Good lord. It's a shame because I LOOOOOVED Anna's book but Lola's and Isla's were just... awful. Also because I remember really liking Josh in Anna's book but here... yikes!
Basically: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/239193574 sums it up pretty well.
The highlight was the St. Clair and Josh's friendship... and that was like 1 line.

Book: Isla and the Happily Ever After

Author: Stephanie Perkins

Book Blurp: Love ignites in the City That Never Sleeps, but can it last?

Hopeless romantic Isla has had a crush on introspective cartoonist Josh since their first year at the School of America in Paris. And after a chance encounter in Manhattan over the summer, romance might be closer than Isla imagined. But as they begin their senior year back in France, Isla and Josh are forced to confront the challenges every young couple must face, including family drama, uncertainty about their college futures, and the very real possibility of being apart.

Review: Isla and the Happily ever after is not a bad book. However I just had high hopes and none of them were really met.
I was expecting a cute love story like the first two books by Stephanie Perkins, instead I got a sap story. It started out fine. The first few chapters where Isla and Josh interacted were funny, cute and intriguing, but everything went to Hades when They actually got together.
Isla transformed into a completely different character then that of the one we were intoduced with. She was also incredibly foolish for someone who was described as being rather mature. From being a cute interesting character, Isla went straight to boring teenage agnst over the course of the book as her character was "developed'. Her crush on Josh while understandable, was unhealthy to the point of infatuation.
Isla's insecurities was one redeeming quality of her character. It fleshed her out. Made her a bit more realistic. Not everyone knows what they want their future to be.
The only thing I truly enjoyed about this book was
1- The first few chapters. when I still had hope in the book.
2- The gang meeting up.
3- Kurt.
Everything else, just seemed to fall into the zone of typical teenage romance books, and I am saddened to say, bore me.

Overall: The first two books were a blessing. This book was okay. If you enjoyed Perkins' other books you most likely will enjoy this one too. It just fell flat with me.

Solid 5. Not as perfect as Anna but I LOVE it on the same level. This was more of an emotional journey. I loved how this series concluded.

It's official. I love Josh the most. Not even Etienne can beat him (I still love him though)... Especially Cricket. (I didn't like Lola that much so...)
I originally wanted to rate this a 4.5 because I didnt like Isla as much as I expected... but I like the way her personality transitioned throughout the book. She definitely had her ups and downs, but in the end, she's admirable.

So wonderful. I love you Stephanie Perkins. I love you.

This book is the quintessential first love story that has the power to evoke nostalgic emotions in those of us who have lived through it and provides those who have not lived through it something to aspire to. It is about not settling, overcoming insecurities, and stretching yourself to become someone you never thought you would be. A consuming story. - Tiffany M.

I definitely waited to long to read this one but it wasn’t as good as the other two for me. I felt like they were like “I love you” way too soon and too intensely lol. But it was definitely spicy and sweet just the way I love it. I just didn’t completely fall in love.

She captures the feeling of falling in love so sweetly. I wish she could write as fast as I can read them. They just make my heart smile!

In my mind, the mark of a great book is how it makes you feel (and also whether it makes you think, but that isn't as relevant here). And after finishing this book, my cheeks ached from smiling.

What makes Stephanie Perkins' books so great is that you become fully immersed in her world. While the idea aren't original (because practically nothing is these days) that's okay, because the quality of her writing sets her apart from her peers.

Having loved the first two books in this series, I knew I would love this one. And I did. The characters are fully formed and interesting, yet still with their own faults. The backgrounds of Paris, Barcelona and New York are so exciting, and gives me a serious case of location jealously. Oh, and I LOVE that Perkins' previous characters appear in this books - one of my favourite things when it comes to books

It's chick lit without the typical mound of stereotypes, a YA adult without the unfortunately common failing of 2 dimensional characters, and a romance that somehow feels fresh and new. A fantastic combination. If you haven't already, READ THIS BOOK

I honestly love this book so much. Isla is such a unique character and her relationship with josh is wonderful. Although the setting is the same as Anna the stories couldn't be more different. I loved getting to see Josh as a main character instead of a secondary one and getting to see his story unfold. Isla and Josh together are simply magical. This story is even better the second time around, I simply love it.
