Picked up this book finally, after receiving it from my boyfriend’s mom around Christmas I think, and it’s a gem. Definitely a book for a younger audience, but it’s written nicely. I read it at a very appropriate time in my life which is why I gave it 5 stars. Its themes of sickness and the unknown resonated. I would recommend to anyone looking for a quick and fun read. This is a great story with a little mystery and sadness as well as happiness and love. This book got me excited to read more, therefore, it will always stand out as an important one for me.

Edit: I am going to give this 4 stars. I think I should be picky with my 5 star reviews, idk why. This may change. Still a great book that encouraged me to take up a new hobby.

I really wanted to like this book and it was fairly enjoyable. However, it did feel as though the author was trying to copy te elements of a children's classic without putting enough of her own style into the telling of it, and this left me feeling detached from the narrative and protagonist.

Utterly sublime! If I could give this book more than five stars I would.

I do love a Junior book that could be written for adults as much as the intended age group.

Given a chance I would have given it 3 1/2* as no one questioned what was in the wood.
