Their chemistry is top tier!!! I love their playful banter and goofy interactions.

Sophie and Max met during Sophie's supposed wedding and Max was hired by Sophie's friend to break up the marriage and 'object' because her ex was a cheater. They then got this friendship and started being the objectors. It was a spicier book compared to other Lynn Painter books but it was okay for me, I wasn't vibing with the spice in this book tho hence the 4 star. Other than that, their chemistry is just so good!!!!!!! They just understand and get each other so well, and they fit right up each other's arms. They also got married a year later which is weird.

5th book in the readathon!

A cute, quick, sweet read! The story moved along quickly, but there are some time gaps built into the story and it doesn't feel like it's too fast paced. In fact, it feels just right. I thought the plot was unique and very loveable. I love the boundaries they put in place around being objection-ers, it made the whole thing feel good and fun and not like they were ruining people's lives.

Sophie and Max were super loveable, and both of their initial distaste for love feels totally reasonable. While there's some elements of the fake-dating trope in this story, I appreciated that they weren't lying to people. They really toed the "no, we're just friends" line well and let people jump to their own conclusions in their own way.

Half a star knocked off because the conflict at the end felt annoying and unbelievable to me. This one really didn't need the third-act breakup.

I swear I've seen something similar to this on a streaming service, but I can't, for the life of me, remember what it's called.

All that having been said, this was a funny and cute very quick read. Sophie and Max were great. But as so often is the case, it's the peripheral characters who really make the book work. In this instance, Larry was the MVP...he probably had the best lines, gave the best advice, and worked it incredibly!

Dude is paid to object to chicks wedding so her dad can keep his job, and asks said chick to help him object other weddings for big $$.

The vibes were off with this one. Wasn’t into it.

This was a delightful little rom com! The plot was a little predictable, but the quirky characters completely made up for it! I loved Larry and Rose’s snarky commentary on Max and Sophie’s relationship. I do feel like there were a few plot points that I would have liked to see more details about. For example, Sophie’s position on love was made clear in the first few chapters, and references were made back throughout the plot, but Max’s story is much less clear. Despite wanting more, I did enjoy this sweet book. It was the perfect way to pull myself out of a reading slump!

Fun, cute, and sweet. I loved that the diversity of the characters came from age in this book, with friendships between younger adults and geriatric people portrayed with warmth and hilarity.
