This is such a great book. It's very much a Vonnegut book, though, so if you don't like his writing or his subject matter, you probably won't like this book. It's an awesome anti-war book, with a protagonist named Billy Pilgrim who becomes 'unstuck in time', switching back and forth from his time in the U.S. Army during World War II, when he was present at the firebombing of Dresden, to his present life, to a time he spent on exhibit in a zoo on the planet Tralfalmadore with the adult movie star Montana Wildhack.

Gave me a new understanding of the capabilities of sci-fi to illustrate for you some of the deepest problems of existence. I particularly liked the viewpoint on time. It amazed me how it might be possible to experience time in other 'formats'.

i feel like the points being made were somewhat muddled by a ruined mindset, which is the goal all along i’m assuming but so it goes

Overrated. The writing I didn't find all that good, although there were interesting bits here and there. Those, unfortunately, were spaced out with ltos of uninteresting bits. I'd strongly recommend watching the short movie instead of reading this book.

I love an anti-war book!! Pacifism is my jam. This was the first Vonnegut I had ever read, and his style is nice.
Somewhere, a dog barked.
I might give it five stars for the anti-war stuff but it was gross that the main character shagged a twenty year old when he was way older than her, and married. And aliens were watching??? Pardon my french but what the frick frack paddiwhack give the dog a bone is that about. That's bad and gross, objectively speaking.
I am taking away at least a whole star for that, because I can, and this is my life and a choice I'm making.
I should take away more stars because i want you to know how much I hated that plot point, but Vonnegut is from Indianapolis, and I Love my city. So this novel gets three stars for his interesting literary voice, multiple stars removed for nasty sexy times, and a handful of stars returned because Vonnegut is from Naptown, for a total of three-point-five stars rounded to four, because I love Indianapolis, I do.
So it goes.
