Amazing. I've never read anything like it. I have no idea how Vonnegut pulled off the balance of remorseful and funny. There's so much going on and so much to think about, it tackles so many themes, and the possibly unreliable narrator makes it such a fun but also sad read. I'm gonna be thinking about this a lot, contemplating what actually happened to Billy, whether he actually time travels and went to Tralfamadore, or if he actually had lost his mind after the war. I'll be thinking about what it says about free will and the inevitability of death.

Definitely the best book I've read this year, I can't recommend it enough

maybe the tightest, most evocative, simplest prose I have ever read. instant favorite.

sad and delightful! i'm in love with kurt vonnegut <3
adventurous challenging slow-paced

The concept is interesting: being unstuck in time and moving through the events of your life in non-linear order, presumably having already lived through them.  There’s also a lot of one-liner wisdom and wit, which is signature Vonnegut.  But I can’t say I enjoyed it anymore this time than I did in high school.  I guess I’m not a fan of the jumbled chaos and find it difficult to really get into the story or attach to the characters.  I can see the merit, but it’s not for me.

Not quite sure I got all of that. I’ll be curious to meet for book club and hear what others thought. There were a lot of plot lines and I wasn’t always sure I understood the metaphors that Vonnegut was going for. It was an interesting look at war and the military.
