Mais franchement plus de la moitié des problèmes de Mia seraient résolus rapidement si elle communiquait avec les gens. A la place, elle s’angoisse et finit par craquer.

I was attempting to finish this series to get to the Royal Wedding book, but after this disgusting atrocity, I’m done. I will absolutely be teaching my daughter that any boy who says he’s not going to wait around forever for her to be ready for sex deserves to be dumped on the spot. I have no desire to read any more of Mia’s whiny immaturity and Michael’s asshole behavior.
Mia can be so annoying, and this is the WORST because Mia is SO RELATABLEEE. ugh. So I’m rly having to confront how annoying ~I~ am.
I rly didn’t anticipate having to do this level of self reflection upon the re-read.
Favorite quote:
And I said—EVEN THOUGH IT WAS THE HARDEST THING I’VE EVER DONE, EVEN HARDER THAN THE TIME I HAD TO ADDRESS THE GENOVIAN PARLIAMENT ON THE PARKING METER ISSUE—“The condoms in your medicine cabinet.”

📚#16 in My Meg Cabot Read Through
I've reached the sixth book of The Princess Diaries series! These books are such a breeze to read and it's been a long time since I've had this much fun reading.
Mia starts her sophomore year at Albert Einstein High School, while Michael is now going to college uptown. Nemesis Lana Weinberger snarkily tells Mia that college boys like girls who "Do It." Mia inevitably begins worrying that Michael wants to Do It and will break up with her if she doesn't. Meanwhile, Lilly nominates Mia to be student body president and her opponent is Lana. And, lastly, Mia is worried that she may have caused Genovia to be kicked out of the EU after a certain incident regarding snails.Everything turns out alright with the snails and Mia ends up showing great potential to be student body president.
I think Mia probably annoyed a lot of readers with this one, but I empathize with Mia in this one. As a teenager, it's hard to have "The Talk" and there's so much misinformation going around about sex on top of that. I was thinking "C'mon!" when Mia assumed Michael was going to break up with her towards the end. A side note, it was refreshing that Michael didn't just say he'd wait forever for Mia to be ready. Honestly, he was starting to seem too perfect so it's nice to see that he's a regular guy.
Book six introduces two new reoccurring characters. There's Perrin whose androgynous looks and ambiguous name confuses people about her gender. She joins Mia's group after Lana calls her a very nasty word. Then there's Trisha Hayes, one of Lana's cronies. It's assumed that she's always been there, but not referred to before. Lana also needed a second-in-command now that she's becoming even more of an antagonistic force in Mia's life.
Princess in Training is yet another entertaining entry in the series. In several ways, this book sets the tone for the rest of the series and I'm excited to keep re-reading.
