Weird but interesting story. Easy read for a non-fiction book.
Doesn’t always work as a narrative since there are so many questions left unanswered, but it was an interesting story with some really thoughtful insights about conservation, capitalism, and morality.

Tempted to give this book 4 stars because there are some parts that I found somewhat frustrating and other parts that I think could be excised entirely without losing anything of value, but you know what? It's already a manageable 250 pages and is, frankly, one of the more fascinating books I've read in recent memory.
It's got everything: birds, fly-fishing, fly-tying, the history of the theory of evolution, the Iraq War, dumbass dentists who ruin everything for everyone forever in a momentary and fleeting attempt to have a single personality trait.
Oh and an extremely mid-stakes heist that involves questions on the validity of some autism diagnoses for the purposes of mounting a legal defense.
Like I said, fascinating.

This was an interesting, but slightly bogged down read. Overall I enjoyed learning about this very niche topic and unusual case, but I felt like this probably could have done with some editing to flow smoother and result in a quicker paced story.
