O início do livro é bastante interessante. Fala das espécies raras de pássaros, como eram feitas as expedições para apanharem exemplares para museus. Depois como a indústria da moda gerou o massacre de algumas destas espécies, os números apresentados são chocantes, não fazia ideia.
Depois disto vem a história daqueles anzóis bonitinhos com penas e da quantidade de pessoas que têm isso como hobbie e pior a quantidade de gente obcecada e as quantias exorbitantes que estão dispostos a pagar para terem as penas mais raras.
Entretanto explicam o roubo em si, quem era ele e o que o motivou a fazer. E a partir daí é a obsessão do jornalista em investigar por ele o caso talvez para mostrar todo o negócio que está por trás das penas mas que no fundo parece que "ninguém" se importa e que já não tem a ver com o roubo em si...
No geral é só boring...

I really enjoyed this. I was sucked right in to the (previously unknown to me) world of fly tying and the illicit trade of exotic bird feathers. We're talking fishing flies that have thousands of dollars worth of feathers in them, folks. And an obsession strong enough to cause one kid to steal hundreds of rare birds from a British museum. Who knew? Not me, but this was a delightful read.
Weirdly compelling. I didn’t think I’d be as interested in the subject as I was. Intersectional with mental health, the Justice system, ecofacism, colonial narratives around nature and it’s perception, this book around the theft of feathers from a museum taps into something esoteric yet, somehow, universal.
Great narration and well written. Doesn’t overstay it’s welcome. I don’t think it will blow anyone away, but also manages to be much better than it seemingly should be, by rights.
