More emotional story vs interesting story (i.e. 😴).

I had trouble buying into Eleanor being extremely well read but misunderstanding context/empathy/social norms...all things research says are enhanced in readers.

This is a book about a very lonely woman, and how she learns to let herself be otherwise.

I love Eleanor's vocabulary and her precision at all times. Although the book deals with serious and sad subjects, there is also a lot of humor and love in it. I would recommend this book to friends.

Not my favorite of all time, but I definitely appreciate it. I think that the beginning moved a little slow and was hard to get into, but about a quarter of the way in I found myself wanting to read more. The leading character, Eleanor is funny if you can commit to her world.

Eleanor Oliphant's life gradually begins to change when she meets Raymond (the IT guy at her office). She forms a friendship with Raymond, allows new people into her life, and begins to examine her past and seek help for what happened to her during her childhood.

Although the story was slow going at times, I think it was an appropriate pace for the character...and I did like seeing Eleanor's journey and personal growth. Lovable characters and a hopeful and heartwarming ending.
