It's a Hades x Persephone retelling, and honestly it didn't disappoint. It had spice and angst and chemistry. Plus the author didn't over dragged some plots...

The story itself was 2/5 and the spice gave it that extra star. A lot of the book could have been cut out and at times I felt like the story was going nowhere.

the spice in this was fantastic, but it was 'instant love', like 2 chapters in, and i found it so irritating that they went from zero to hopeless for each other that fast. i couldnt get over it.

What was everyone else reading because it wasn’t the same book as me.
Breeding kink for her acting like the biggest wet lettuce, second to only one other depiction of Persephone. They didn’t have a single meaningful conversation before or after. There’s just. Some good sex, shadow sex, horns— something??
I didn’t fully hate it. I had a good time with some of the smut but my god was this painful at times.

There was A LOT of miscommunication in this book it was driving me crazy. For almost half of the book it was centered around Persephone's existing relationship. The author was desperately trying to convince us wasn't really a relationship. It was pretty clear the guy thought it was and Persephone did nothing to discourage that. Not even correcting him when he introduced them as a couple. I'm really not a fan of cheating in any capacity, which let's be real that's what was happening here.
Most of this book is smut, honestly I'm someone who does read a lot of smutty books, but even this got to be a bit overdone for me. It was like every other chapter they were fucking. Seemed like some scenes could have been cut they didn't really seem to add much to the story other than to just show how feral these two are. Still because of the amount I would consider this 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
Writing was fine, sometimes hard to follow. I wish some more things were explained. There were also a few characters I felt could have used some more development. I'm left here wondering what really happened throughout the book. The ending was mildly confusing as well. I received this for free in exchange for an honest review.

Story was interesting.
I feel like Greek mythology is probably my favourite for the myths and legends. I loved Percy Jackson movies, I'm going to finish the books eventually.
I like erotica and this was quite heavy. It was good. I enjoyed it.
The characters were also intense. I enjoyed their banter. I'm so curious by how shes going to react to his betrayal because that is what he has done; betrayed her. Her mother is going to freak out.

It’s no surprise that I’d jump at the opportunity to read The Maiden & The Unseen given my love for retellings and smut. The character dynamics and personalities in Hades and Persephone were charming, witty, and gloriously stubborn. While this is spicy to the max, I didn’t feel it took away from the plot or become overbearing. Filled with tension and heat, this is a retelling you don’t want to miss and will leave you anxiously waiting for more.
