🌶️🌶️🌶️.5/5.

It took me awhile to get to this and I regret not reading it right away.
This was such a good story of pining from Finn even though he does what he does and I'll get to it but also pining from Mac. It's a second chance because when Mac made a move years ago, Finn chose family and not her. It's a beautiful story of two people that knew who their other half were and this time around, they would claim one another no matter what.

At first I was a bit concerned with what Finn's job is and what that would mean for his future with Mac but Emma wrote it in a way that left me with no doubts where Finn's heart and mind were and that made it so much easier whenever he was doing his job. The way Emma wrote his pov was a saving grace for me otherwise this review would've gone very differently.
We also got one flashback, if I'm not mistaken, which I actually appreciated a lot. I needed the reminder of what and how Finn & Mac were and what made them go their separate ways years ago. Also Liam is such a good brother! 🥰

Finn is doing his final job for the family because he just can't take it anymore and he wants love and Mac.
Meanwhile Mac decided she had enough and she came back to claim Finn's once and for all so long story short, Evan (Finn's brother) gives Mac a job in order to help Finn finishing his task and then they can finally have their hea so she started working as a nurse for an old man who is Finn's target's father.
Mac working in the same house as Finn's target is dangerous both for her and for Finn because whenever he sees her, he can't keep his mask on and do his job and Mac just can't keep her reactions in check and lets something slip.

I loved Finn. Despite his job, he can't help but try to see the best in people and he would do anything for his family and Mac.
I loved Mac and how despite her childhood and what she went through, she still chose to help and care for others.
Both of them together felt like each other's missing pieces and I loved them. They had a deep friendship before and all these years didn't change a thing so they already had a good foundation for a relationship. Things just exploded between them and they were all in.
The way Finn took care of Mac's needs but also Mac's mouth during those spicy time was amazing.

I must talk about the heavy as F chapters towards the end where basically s**t hit the fan and Mac was in peril. It was so hard reading it but I liked what happened afterwards. While Mac was drowned in self hatred, depression and self doubt, Finn was there every thing time. He didn't waver for one second. i loved how Kellan somehow got through to her and she finally realized that she could and should be honest with Finn and that to get better she needed to be home and her home was Finn all along.
The part where she exposed herself to him was beautiful. I loved how Finn reacted to it and how he made it better by just being there and reassuring Mac that they were meant to be and nothing or no one would break them. I loved that moment so much. Despite everything, it definitely was a highlight for me because it just showed that while Finn was attracted to her, he fell in love with her soul and heart and not her body.

Mia's mother is a disgrace to mother's out there. She is trash y'all. I can't tell you how happy I was when she finally met her end.
Mia's father is like a piece of sh!t in the bottom of your shoe because he just ruins the mood and your day.  He is the villain throughout this series and I innocently thought this would be the end for him but silly me. It wasn't.
Freya had her revenge and I was giddy!
Finn's father is such a complex character. I started this series hating him, then it was disliked. Lately I liked him quite a lot and then I started this book and remembered why I didn't liked him to begin with but like in every book, he has his moments and the deep conversations he has one on one with one of his sons or daughters just gets to me and I love the man. Emma does such a good job with him and makes sure that whatever he says, is said with emotion and a deep understanding of what's at stake.
Evan was back for the ending and I'm so very intrigued by him. He is a copy of his father when he was the boss of the family so he is a basically a robot with no feeling but just hearing Teagan's name breaks his facade. I have faith in Evan and I feel like he would be the one to end the villain's reign but we'll see. I'll be happy with whoever makes him gone for good.
Emma wove so many strings throughout the series and I'm very excited to read the final book and see how everything wraps up.
Favorite book so far in the series!

This series I have loved from the beginning and continue to love with each new book! These characters are just so realistic and ones I want as my family.

The Lies That Shatter is a second chance, friends to lovers, mafia romance that will have you in love with Finn and McKenna! Theresa chemistry and emotion for these two is so strong. This book is full of twist and turns, I was on the edge of my seat. I enjoyed every second of it and I love the characters more and more. So much drama in this world it is so exciting!

I definitely recommend this book and series for others! I can’t wait to see what Emma Luna has coming next!
