If you have been following Erika, as I have, since she was drawing her lesbian comic book Dar, then you know what you are in for with this third volume of collected cartoons from her website Oh Joy Sex Toy, where she reviews sex toys.

If you aren't into looking at naked people using sex toys and having sex, then this book is not for you. But, if you want to learn what the best sex toys out there are, and how to use and and if they are worth it, then this is the perfect book. Erika and her husband talk about toys for women, toys for men, sexual health issues, and porn. Erika draws very clearly what is going in where, and how.

And did I say it is funny? Erika has a great sense of humor, and brings it out frequently. I don't think any of the pictures in this book are safe for work, but why would you want to read it work?

If you wan to get a feel for the book you can check out her website, Oh Joy Sex Toy

Thanks to Netgalley for making this book available for an honest review.

With a book like this, you can't exactly complain about the NSFW aspect. I do actually appreciate all the different body types depicted in this book, as well as the genuine sex ed parts of the book. But for most of the time, every time I went into a new chapter I kept thinking "oh my god, ANOTHER review??" The reviews actually wouldn't have been so terrible if they were more spaced apart, so in a different universe I hope the book is ordered differently so some of the comics at the very end (which dealt with very real feelings such as body insecurity, as well as funny things like sex with a fantasy made of ice cream) make it more towards the front of the book and break up the advertising--I mean reviews. (even though it feels like advertising, being a published book and all). On the plus side, this book does well as a standalone, despite being the third in a series--this is my first encounter with the authors ever. Which, you know, may not have worked in their favor as I didn't appreciate being called a pervert every other page. I got this book mostly because the description states "[they]...share sex education, interview sex workers, and crack horrible, horrible puns, all in the name of promoting sex positivity." I'm not sure sex positivity or wanting to read sex ed and bad puns makes me a pervert. If it's a groupie nickname, I think a less accusatory one like 'sex fiends' or something would have sufficed.
All in all, there were some good aspects, but not enough to make me want to actually buy this book or recommend it to a friend.

Really smart and inclusive while also being super fun. Maybe would have liked the end comics interspersed with the reviews just to break the monotony, but that's a relatively minor complaint.

I got a free copy of this from Netgalley for a fair and honest review.

I got this because I am interested in learning about sex. I always read new sex books, and if you are prude or not familiar with different sex lifestyles( and I mean DIFFERENT) you may want to steer clear of this one. I thought I was accepting, but this book contains stuff that I just do not think is okay. I won't go into detail as I do not want to offend anyone. I also thought that this was full of too many advertisements for products and services. It's basically a sex toy catalogue with drawings and over the top "queer" commentary. The whole penis envy with packing/packers. I didn't know people really do that.

A great resource, especially the few comics dealing with sexual education. I dunno why this Goodreads edition doesn't have the cover image, though?? Hopefully it'll get it someday, haha.
